Quilting Lectures

Techniques for Keeping a Quilt Square Lecture/demo – 1 hour Most   quilters   stitch   with   a   ¼”   seam   allowance,   but   many   quilts   end   up   with    blocks   of   varying   sizes   resulting in    a    quilt    that    may    not    be    “square.”        This    lecture    addresses    the    problems    and    demonstrates    how    to overcome these issues so that any quilter can easily achieve success and keep the quilt “square.” No Hand Sewing – Binding Techniques by Machine   Lecture/demo – 1 hour Let’s   face   it.      Hand   sewing   a   binding   takes   time,   sometimes   a   long   time.      Every    quilt   doesn’t   necessarily   need a   hand   stitched   binding.      Charity   quilts,   kid’s   quilts,   even   throws   for   the   sofa   can   be   beautifully   bound   using the   machine   binding   techniques   demonstrated   in   this   lecture.      I   have   even   used   one   of   these   machine techniques to bind show quilts.

Machine Quilting and Longarm Lectures

Tips for Awesome Machine Quilting   Lecture/trunk show – 1 hour Who   doesn’t   want   to   have   an   awesome   looking   quilt?      Yet,   sometimes   we   are   a   little    disappointed   in   our machine   quilting.      Regardless   of   whether   it   is   quilted   on   a   home   sewing   machine   or   a   longarm,   there   are basics   and   principles   that   apply   across   the   board.      From   start   to   finish,   learn   what   can   be   done   to   make   the machine quilting awesome. Solving Frustrating Longarm Problems   Power point lecture/trunk show – 2 hours (3 hours with questions)  Excellent lecture to combine with a workshop. We   love   our   longarm,   love   being   able   to   quilt   pantos,   custom,   or   even   computer   guided,   but   there   are   those   annoying   problems.      Tension   problems,   the   quilt   ends   up   with   “dog   ears,”   problems   loading   and   scoops   on   the   side   of   the   backing, what   to   do   with   “those”   customer   quilts,   puckers!   –   NEVER,   and   did   I   mention   tension?      Learn   how   to   be   proactive   in preventing problems and how to solve them when they happen.  20 Tips for Successful Longarm Quilting Plus Lecture/demo – 1 hour (excellent for a quilt show lecture)  Regardless   of   the   make   or   model   of   longarm,   these   20   plus   tips   go   beyond   to   the   heart   of   the   matter.      These   ti ps will   help   any   longarm   quilter   solve   annoying   issues,   make   better   quilting   decisions   with   setup,   batting,   thread, and more, and become more productive.

Field Trip

Longarm Studio Field Trip   Lecture/demo – approximately 1 hour.  This can also be adapted for a club presentation. Looking   for   something   to   do   with   your   group?      Road   Trip!!      Schedule   your   group   for   a   field   trip   to   our   Delightful   Quilting   &   Sewing   studio   to   learn   first-hand   how   quilts   are   quilted   on   a   longarm.      Find   out   how   to   prepare   your quilt   and   backing   for   longarm   quilting,   how   to   choose   batting,   learn   what   different   quilting   techniques   are   and how   they   are   priced,   and   even   have   a   chance   to   test   drive   a   longarm.      Extend   your   road   trip   by   visiting   quilt   shops along the way.  Two are within 10 miles of our studio.
